Job Summary

This position works closely with NineDot Energy’s project development unit and all levels of management throughout the organization, as needed, to assure operational and procedural compliance with NineDot Energy policies, legislative and regulatory requirements and acts as a resource for training and regulatory interpretation. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating and facilitating activities to meet federal and state compliance requirements and project completion dates. The Regulatory Analyst will work with and report to NineDot Energy’s Director of Project Development to support the development and maintenance of the compliance program processes and reports to ensure consistency with NineDot policies and regulatory compliance standards.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews and analyzes various regulatory reports or requirements across products that can include energy resources, vehicle-to-grid, fuel cells and shared/community power.

  • Assist with project development and project operations teams to interface with government agencies to ensure that project execution is in compliance with federal or state government regulations and reporting procedures.

  • Support multiple projects from conception to completion for the purpose of supporting and organizing compliance program activities at NineDot Energy.

  • Provides summary of key deadlines and maintains governance of the technologies, portals, timeliness and submission processes

  • Measures and maintains results to ensure compliance and best practices in effect

  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Communicates with internal business partners and external customers to respond to standard and non-standard inquiries.

  • Breaks down strategic problems, analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations.

  • Gathers and formats data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards. Maintains and organizes a database of existing and forthcoming regulatory programs of interest across various geographies.

  • Resolves standard and relatively straightforward issues, referring non-routine issues to more senior team members and/or managers.

  • Provides input and analysis into the continuous improvement of business processes and procedures and participates in the planning, testing and implementation of projects and new/ revised products/services or processes as required.

  • Partner with project development teams and engineering teams to deliver quarterly/phased technical reports.

  • Coordinate periodical project development review meetings with government agencies.

  • Identify gaps in regulatory compliance and proposed solutions

  • Identify and develop future government funding opportunities for our clean energy tech

  • Monitor and analyze NineDot Energy’s regulatory initiatives, in particular Network Codes and other legislative changes. Prepare briefing material and draft consultation responses.

  • Take lead responsibility in selected areas.

Required Education and Experience

  • University Degree required with 3 or more years of relevant work experience

  • Background in Financial Reporting & Analysis and/or Auditing will receive strong consideration.

  • Effective written & oral communications skills; experience of engagement with leadership team level is desired.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills related to large data sets.

  • Knowledge and/or experience of the following will be highly beneficial:

  • Compliances Control, Risk & Exposure Management.

  • Fundamental knowledge in renewable energy, cleantech, power markets

  • Experience with Google and MS Office productivity suites

  • Team player that is well-adept at working with cross-functional teams to execute complex projects

  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment and willing to step up beyond formal roles/responsibilities when “all hands on deck” situations arise
